Installing Kitchen Cabinets Series – Part 5

Preparing the room for cabinets is the next step in the process. If you are changing the locations of any of your appliances or plumbing fixtures you will need to relocate the necessary plumbing, wiring and ventilation at this time. Unless you are skilled and experienced in these trades it is best to have a professional perform these tasks for you.

I prefer to install my flooring after the cabinetry goes in. I think the end result looks better, especially if you are using a ceramic tile as you can grout in the space between the last tile and the cabinet for a clean look. If you are using a wood floor or a linoleum product you may choose to install the floor 1st as this will avoid the need for a trim molding around the base of the cabinets.
