Emotional Abuse Awareness- The Deepest Scars

August 6, 2009 - 12:17 pm No Comments

“Emotional abuse kicks you around , it scares you and beats you up, but there’s a day when you realize you’re not just a survivor of this tale, you’re a warrior — you’re tougher than anything that life throws and comes your way”

Emotional abuse is not as well known as other types of abuse; but it is very real and very common.
It is not unlikely for someone to not even know they’re experiencing it. It is a common misconception that all types of abuse must leave visible marks. Emotional abuse does enough phsycological scarring to make up for the lack of visibility on the outside. It destroys a person’s self esteem in order to make them weak enough to stay and endure the abuse. Keep in mind though, abuse is not constant and doesn’t appear right when the relationship starts. If it worked that way, more people would avoid it. But what happens is the partner seems too good to be true for a while, then blows up and becomes abusive, then realizes they must salvage the relationship if they want to maintain control over you and becomes nice again. They repeat this cycle for the duration of the relationship.
