Ping my beer pong!

The first rule of beer pong is that you can’t cover or smack the ball away from the cups with your hands. If you’re using a paddle, however, go ahead and defend your brew like it was your family. Do your best to prevent that ping-pong ball from taking one of your beers away.

As a side note, if you choose to blow it out of a cup, it’s not only a violation, it’s a sissy’s move. If that or any other violation occurs, the opposing player gets a free shot or do-over. Those throwing the ball have three types of pitches, arc shot, fastball, and bounce shot. Depending on your throwing hand, try each one before playing and see if they work. Otherwise, you’ve always got the paddle as well.

Now, some of you who want to use beer, or some other alcohol as your beverage, keep this in mind. The traditional size of cups used in beer pong are 16 oz. That’s roughly 30 oz (about a pint), so make sure you’re not confusing the vodka in your cups for a malt beverage. As with all alcoholic drinks, forget about driving yourself home. Take the bus or a cab if available.

Not everyone walks away in beer pong without a buzz if they decide to get drunk. Sober players can go on until they have to run to the restroom. Beer pong is a fun game with countless trick shots, bad calls and sudden death matches in the future. It’s probably one of the most inventive ways fraternity boys and other college students everywhere have come up with to get drunk. So go grab some beers and clear off the beer pong tables!
