A&E Intervention – Brooke Pt.1
July 31, 2009 - 6:27 pm
Brooke, 26, uses prescription pain killers to control her early onset of rheumatoid arthritis. Brooke has now become addicted to these prescription pills, which often contain opiates, a very addictive category of substances. She denies her dependence on the drug and her family is hoping an intervention can make her realize that she needs help.

I am absolutely …
I am absolutely aching for this poor girl. How frustrating when everyone you care about refuses to listen to or understand you. She’s in so much pain, what is she supposed to do? Her family is so selfish. They need therapy, not Brooke.

“its not like im addicted to herion” yes, that is exactly what its like, oxycodone is basically heroin in pill form.

You are missing the …
You are missing the point – I am merely pointing out how so many individuals fail to realize that just because some drug is a legal prescription doesn’t mean it is any less worse than say heroin.
Why not take the time to read some1’s reply before quickly deducing what your limited understandings and close minded views thinks is an opinion…

Get ing real. …
Get ing real. This women is in serious pain, and she needs meds to help that pain. The worst thing in the world to have is severe pain not an addiction. If the Meds help than so be it. The only thing i would recommend though is for her to have a 8omg ocycontin instead of all the vicodin because the vicodine is messing with the liver because of the tylenol.

“it’s not like I’m …
“it’s not like I’m addicted to heroin.” Poor child, if only she knew how chemically similar heroin was to oxycodone (Oxycontin)

I have the same …
I have the same disease and I feel for her, I think her family is horrible in “trying” to help her, the poor girl couldn’t even walk and they couldn’t even pick her up or give her a call when they said they would…..if they cared about her and felt she was a danger they shouldn’t have allowed her to drive…pretty sad

I was even cutting …
I was even cutting my pain pills in half because my body builds up a tolerance. Since they were not working, I took the whole pills and then that lost effectiveness. My one doc told me to double my meds, which I didn’t do. Opiates are dangerous because the more you take, the more you need for them to become effective. Your body loses it’s own natural way of fighting pain, and then you become dependent. It’s a vicious cycle.

After I was in a …
After I was in a car accident in October, I was inundated with 10 different medications…pain killers, muscle relaxers, nerve meds, anti-inflammatories…for level 8-10 pain. I too had many docs..pain management, ortho surgeo, neuro surgeon etc. After I had spinal surgery, I was given more meds to control post-operative pain. I eventually had enough & quit everything cold turkey. I thought I was going to die, but I made it through and am now med free. I feel for this woman…

Her family has got to be one of the most unhelpful, uncaring and cruel I have ever seen on Intervention.

I love how her family doesn’t offer to pick her up for family functions. Every step for her is intense pain, and yet they expect her to be johnny-on-the-spot and never late to anything. Jeeze, she should at least be in a wheel chair!

To bad for Brooke …
To bad for Brooke she’s back at Bay Recovery for the third time since the airing of this show. She was arrested for DUI from taking to many pain pills and driving around on busy city streets. Finally, this time the Bay Recovery specialist are treating her for “DRUG ADDICTION” and not chronic pain. Lets hope she makes it.
