Which criminals do you feel should be executed? Rapists, murderers, child abusers, litterers etc?
I don’t believe in the death penalty at all, but I would be interested to see your responses
.
If killing is considered such an evil act, then why perform that very same evil act and use the word ‘justice’ as excuse for such ill-behaviour?
Killing a person doesn’t undo his/her crime — it only makes you a killer too (so after that you’re not innocent anymore either).
What if the wrong person (innocent) is executed? Doesn’t that make anyone who was involved in the sentencing cold-blooded murderers? (i.e. judges, prosecutors, members of the jury, any member of society who gave the thumps up).
Should we consider them a bunch of thugs and should they all be executed too?
Prosecutors don’t seem to give a rat’s @ss if an accused is innocent or guilty. All they care about is big dollars and winning the case, which enhances their personal reputation and which in turn means more big dollars. They probably also get mighty adrenaline rushes from being regarded as some kind of hero by some members of society who also get great satisfaction from believing ‘justice is served’, meaning more motivation for winning the case.
Then there’s the issue of dealing with false accusations.
E.g. a relationship gone sour and a girl/woman who wants revenge cries rape!!!
Wouldn’t such false accusations then equate to MURDER if the accused is declared guilty, or ATTEMPTED murder if declared innocent?
Wouldn’t that mean that EVERY court case would end in either the accuser or the accused being executed?
And anyone who gives false evidence — should we then regard that as attempted murder?
Another point to ponder is, by executing a person, who are you REALLY hurting?
This act of revenge last only a moment for the convict, but the people who are REALLY hurting for a LONG, LONG time are the family members and close friends.
So again, you’re copying the same kind of ill-behaviour (i.e. hurting innocent victims).
And ironically, that is the reason (or excuse) behind your justification of the killing.
Personaly, I cannot see how any sane thinking person could get any kind of satisfaction out of that. But then again, people who are filled with hatred are in an ill-state of mind, not capable of thinking rationally.

I’m against the death penalty unless the convicted person asks to be executed.

I believe punishments should be equal to the crime. If you kill someone, you get killed. If you rape somebody, you should get raped. If you litter, you should have to do community service and pick up litter.

None
Rapists should be castrated (male or female)
Murderers & child abusers should be put in a jail without internet access and college courses and cable tv.
Litterers (and other idiot/lazy crimes) should be forced into community service

I would execute murderers.
Anything with life has a right to live. I don’t remember where I heard this…but it has a really good point.
"When one person kills another, it is as if he has killed all of mankind."
Interesting question, by the way

If anyone should be executed, it would be exclusively intentional murderers, and no one else. But execution is an act of murder committed in even colder blood. It dehumanizes society. Life imprisonment is punishment and safeguard enough.

Definitely the serial murderers, or the modern cannibal who commits a murder in times of peace.
The serial rapist or pedophile should undergo surgical cuts, piece by piece, including caning and hard labour.
There should only be heavy fines, caning, hard labour and long imprisonment for drug traffickers. Litterers should do community work, inclusive of fines, depending on his income level.
And the unhelpful imprisonment of a few hours to a few weeks should discontinue as it wastes resources; a hefty fine would be more appropriate and sensible. And finally, those prisons in European countries should never be made so comfortable with TV and other amenities, to lure and tempt even ‘good’ people to intentionally commit crimes, to solve their acccomodation and food problems. Else lack of space will encourage prisoners to be released early before they are ready. Now, why are democratic govts so uncreative, ineffective with crimes and prison problems?

I’m fine with executing anyone who takes another life. That means people who commit murder(1st or 2nd degree) or a person who commits rape(or whatever they want to call it by legal terms).

Here’s my list of criminals that I believe should be given the death penalty:
1. Murderers
2. Rapists
3. Child abusers
4. Anyone who tortures someone (I don’t know the legal name for this)
5. Kidnappers
6. Terrorists
7. Anyone in possession of child porn
