When murderers and child abusers?
are given thier sentences why do the majority of people reading about thier crimes assume these inhuman people will get thier cummuppence in prison. I thought the suffolk strangler would have got his by now and a few others I could mention, but i haven’t heard of anythng bad happening to them. Why do people believe this? as I am having doubts.
People who go to prison for rape or child abuse do get protected, officers follow them to protect them from the other prisoners, but sometimes the officers accidentally leave cell doors open. The prisons are not cosy and warm, each prisoner who is sentenced are locked up 23 hours a day, imagine that, you would go mad being locked up for so long. You can not mix with other prisoners if you have killed, raped or abused women and children in fear of threats, so the life they have is lonely. Imagine the fear of not being safe, every day is another journey of loneliness and fear, by the end of 15 yr sentence, you just want to die. I have known people to go to prison got GBH, they have seen child abusers guided by prison officers, but, were allowed to shout at them as they pass. The prisoners attend victim groups to discuss there crimes, they meet up with trained specialists to work on healing, many child abusers say they would do it again, some ask not to leave prison in fear of abusing a child again. These people are sick and need to be hung.

I believe your living in the life of a prison drama.
prison is not like it used to be , they have warm beds , colour tv’s snooker tables , games consoles the lot….

Everyone does dont they? I think its because in the past, prison guards were a lot more ‘bent’, therefore turned a blind eye to people like that getting beat up or worse.

First, could be bad things have happened to the suffolk strangler and you just haven’t heard about it. It isn’t like prisons publish all the news behind bars for the public to read.
People assume bad people will get their comeuppance because it makes them feel good to think that.

no one can hear you scream in prison,its a different world,these things are not reported but believe me it happens ive even helped beat a child abuser and the srews walked away around a corner,the ripper has been attacked many times and more recently donovan the man in the shannon case,i understand he had broken bones and was too ill to attend court.

Part of the responsibility of the state is to care for it’s wards, which prisoners are considered. Great care is taken in the prison systems to prevent an inmate from being physically assaulted in prison. I honestly never have heard anyone with the above assumption, so I can’t speak to why they might. I guess it helps them sleep at night.

Because these people are in danger but separated from other prisoners. That’s why nothing happens to them. The prison service has a duty to protect them from other prisoners. Right or wrong, is not the issue. The answer to your question is because they are kept away from other prisoners.

I only wish this was true.
Look at the baby P case in England. Looks like they want to spend millions to give the mother a new identity after she stood by and watched her child be beaten, burned and have his back broken before he died.
And Ian Huntley is still alive and well in jail. If only they let the other inmates get at them. Prison is a walk in the park for them.

I’m sorry, I don’t believe I fully understand you question.. but I will give you my opinion on what I think you are asking.
I think you are asking why it assumed convicted criminals will receive their punishment in prison.
Because other criminals believe that it is worse to hurt a child than a grownup? I honestly don’t believe in prisons. I don’t like the whole idea. It is a good idea to keep dangerous people locked up but not somewhere they are treated well… i say we throw them all in Iraq.. how’s that?

Yeah, prison is wonderful. Thats why it has such an amazingly high suicide rate, people are just *so* happy they think things can’t get any better! And they’re only severely depressed because they don’t like to think about leaving… after all, what do they have in the real world except familly and loved ones, and the ability to decide even such little things as when they get to sleep. The overcrowding is really just cosy, and the vicious bullying just joking! Did you get I was being sarcastic?
They don’t publish what happens in prison because they are already in enough trouble for the state of the prisons in this country. And besides, retribution is not the main point of prisons, and neither should iit be. A society that takes revenge opens itself up to revenge being taken on it, and it gains nothing – nobody comes back. It is enough that their freedoms are so restricted and they can never do it again. The point of the justice system is not to make *you* or others feel better. It is to prevent crimes from happening again. We are not savages.
