I highly doubt the parents are forcing her to give up being a boy, so I don’t think it has anything to do with being ‘allowed’ to be a boy so much as being allowed the choice to be a girl. Transgenders tend to know from a very young age what gender they are on the inside. Anyway, think of it from the other side of that argument. Should she be forced to remain a boy, she may then utterly regret living her childhood as a boy.

You’re a person who happens to be biologically male, but if your core identity is female, then that’s who you are. If you’re biologically male and identify as a female, then you’re a female. “True gender” is more of a righteous statement. You be who you want to be, and that’s the beauty of freedom. The freedom to express whatever gender you want to be is called being gender queer. Hermaphrodites will choose a gender too, because it’s not always easy being both.

Usually these kids are suffering from a condition known as gender dysphoria. If the parents are caring and serious with the child’s feelings, they will have a therapist help in understanding how the child feels, and usually parents will make the child wait until puberty hits, and if the teenage kid is still gender dysphoric, then surgery is performed. This is the safest way. This is what transsexuality is about, a form of hermaphrodism in the brain.

I totally agree with this, I mean, my child is quite obviously suffering from a condition whereby he is actually an antelope but born and trapped in a 4 year old human boys body. We are currently awaiting public funding to have his antlers and hoofs surgically applied so he can finally lead a normal life as an antelope.

Knowing who you are …
Knowing who you are is important. But iono abnout this one. It seems to me that the parents just let him jump in, whether that be true or not. There is such thing as adrogynous, and just because a person has more feministic or masulinic perspective of themself, that doesnt mean the dominant perspective relates to ones true gender. Masculine/Feminine isn’t the same as Male/Female. I’m a male, but i see myself as a little more feminine than masculine, but that doesnt make me a woman instead.

I am all for …
I am all for self-expression and I fully support the pursuit of happiness for all people. No matter the extreme (save psychopathic behavior)
However, this child is not being allowed to fully explore life as a boy before transitioning– remember, 7 years old is practically still a baby, he has so much developing to do. They should not force him, but it could be damaging if he grows up to find his mind changed, and he then may regret living his childhood as a girl.
