How come People that are Verbal abusers, seem alot more threatening than Physical abusers?

Putting up with my Uncle and his bad Temper every now and then, I wonder how come it hurts me and my Family more than being Physically assaulted or abused?
Also, how come people with REALLY bad Verbal Tempers, always try and seem tougher than they actually are?
Can anyone explain to me how Verbal abuse is always more Hurting instead of being Physically abused?
most simple answer you will get, a bruise can heal.
People who are tough don’t need to look tough so they don’t try look all scary, but cowards, who use verbal abuse arent tough, so they do anything else they can to hurt.
If you get punched then your bruise will be gone in a week, your memories of somebody calling you a fat whore wont.

because the person tries to intimidate and belittle you. they act tougher to scare you. but most of them are all talk and wont do anything. they have low self esteem and want to make you feel like your not worth it
