Purring Cat (Russian Blue) Cat Abuser ANTIDOTE

August 18, 2009 - 9:27 am 26 Comments

Boris Kitten (a Russian Blue) purrs and snuggles.

Boris is basically a Russian Blue cat, just like “Dusty”, the abused cat. These cats are very sensitive, easily frightened or startled, and need very gentle handling. Their fur is the softest cat fur ever.

Boris is very frightened of household visitors and is a one-person cat; he will not approach strangers, period. He purrs and “talks” to me whenever I enter the room.

He’s a muffin of complete and utter trust and love, and since his adoption has been the most loving cat I’ve ever lived with. I adore him.

Maybe this little video can be a sort of Antidote to Kenny’s (cat abuse) video. Boris is very happy, very spoiled, and trusts me completely. In return, I love him with all my heart.

Boris is 4 yrs old here; I adopted him as a 3-month-old kitten from our local Animal Control shelter.

Think Boris is cute? Please consider adopting from your local Animal Control/Humane Society/ASPCA shelter, where all the cutest pets are housed.

In these difficult economic times, it makes even more sense to adopt a soft, snuggly pet from your local shelter. All six of our cats and dogs are one-time strays.

Well BJ I’m happy to say that this particular cat was NOT abused by his previous owner (at least as far as I know).

Boris Kitten just happens to be the same Cat Breed (a Russian Blue) as “Kenny’s” Unfortunate Cat.

Boris (lucky guy) was only 3 months old when I adopted him from our local Animal Control Shelter. He’s now 4 1/2, and is a Very Spoiled Cat!

(Thank goodness, say it with me, for some Good News for a change.)

    I’ve heard that …
I’ve heard that some shelters will call you when a specific “breed” arrives at the shelter.

Boris Kitten is not a “Perfect” Russian Blue cat. The white spot on his chest, plus his not-quite-emerald-green eyes disqualify him from being a True representative of his breed.

I think this is silly. He’s a Perfect Russian Blue in Personality, and more than perfect in Love.

Plus I just ran into him, by accident, while browsing my local Animal Control Shelter.

Kudos to you for adopting shelter cats! I volunteer almost full-time at my local shelter to help socialize the cats looking for homes, and it’s really heart-breaking to see some of them… And the reasons that some are given up just rip me apart. If you’re interested, I take a LOT of videos for the shelter and post them on my channel, in hopes that maybe some of them will have a better chance of getting adopted. And it has been a nice success for a few of them, I’m glad to say.
    I love that purr!

    That’s been the …
That’s been the very thing for me (at the shelter): ONE less loss! If I could stop people from breeding cats & dogs, I would. I LOVE your attitude, and I try to keep it too: We are NOT replacing or forgetting our baby people, we are simply giving another one a good, happy, peaceful life. As far as I can tell, it’s the best we can do. THANK YOU for your kind comments, and your plans to adopt another stray! I adore my strays.

You know, I am glad you are being honest about it never getting easier to loose a pet, because that is the truth. It is like loosing your child over again. It is a shame at how long animals live compared to humans, isn’t it?

We adopt from the shelter as much as possible, that goes for our cats & dogs. The only problem with adopting is when I go into the shelter and check out all the animals, they make me want to take them all home. It is heart breaking to not take them all! :(

  16. fisheatbugs Says:

    Totally true. I …
Totally true. I hope that the new kitten helps you get closure. I too am planning to adopt a new addition in hopes not forgetting or replacing my baby, but not being stuck and depressed. He is in a better place, regardless of where it is LOL. As soon as I save up enough money, I will be heading to the shelter to save one from being put down. ^.^ Makes me happy to know it will be 1 less loss.

    I feel your pain, I …
I feel your pain, I had a cat from when I was 2 till I was 21! She was more like a person, a companion, than a cat. I still think about her all the time, I’m getting a new kitten in the near future to ease the pain lol.

  18. elsbett1 Says:

    Oh, to have a …
Oh, to have a loving companion for so many years, and then to lose him! My heart goes out to you.

I’m 47 years old, and have said Goodbye to many cats over the years. It never, in my opinion, gets easier.

My only comfort has been adopting cats/kittens from my local Animal Control Shelter. I adopted Boris from this place at 3 mos old, and he’s still a very happy/spoiled cat at 4+ yrs old.

My (unwanted) advice: Just walk thru your local Animal Control Shelter, and see who “speaks” to you.

    My cat passed away …
My cat passed away in dec. I only have a few bad photos of him. Boris looks exactly like he did, it is uncanny. The purring, color, everything! I was never really sure of his breed, I was thought he was a mixed british short hair or russian blue. Had him since I was 1, I am now 17. Cannot remember him never being with me.

Anyways this video is very nice to see. It is like he is still here, in a way. :) Thanks for that.

Thank you! ^-^ I adore cats, so I cannot help but to go visit them. (I’ve also posted a video response, with your approval of course, of me playing with a adorable kitten at the shelter.) Ferals are difficult, and mine hid for a month before coming out. My mother and I had loved him to the point where he understood that he can trust us. I’ll definitely consider your advice, for the future. I’ll speak with my mother concerning another cat. Thank you for spreading love for kittehs in need. =)

Sending a big Purry Snuggle to NagisaxKaworu, for going to the local shelter and “taming” cats (a much-needed service) and for adopting a feral cat.

Ferals really can be difficult, and I think they often only learn trust and love one single person.

Just a hint (sorry if I’m nagging!): My grown-up cats are MUCH more likely to accept a young kitten in their households than a full-grown (or half-grown) cat.

Even as the kitten grows up, they don’t fight.

I visit my local animal shelter every week to socialize with cats in need. It brightens my day. =) I’d love to adopt another, but my current cat (Whom was previously feral) prefers to be the only cat of the household… I’m not sure how he’d fare with another cat.
