In Portland, OR, every couple months police uses excessive force: recently, a schizofrenic killed (beaten) by police, a month ago a man with a found wooden fake gun shot to death by police, some time ago, another woman shot to death (had no gun) just because she was driving away from a policeman, 3-4 years ago, a man with mental illness shot to death (had no weapon). Is it only in Portland, or everywhere?
I was asked for more details:
o The schizoefrenic man beaten to death couple weeks ago: James Chasse, link: http://www.katu.com/news/4421741.html. Google for more.
o The woman shot when trying to drove away: Kendra James, link: http://flyservers.registerfly.com/members5/policecrime.com/killed/or_police.html
I think it is common today what you are saying. I hear stories like this a lot, and it’s not getting better. They do stick up for each other and in a way I don’t blame them. They have a tough job that I know I wouldn’t want. I will say there are a lot of good Cops that get a bad reputation because of the bad ones. What would help is every six months have them take Drug tests, and a polygraph test.
Amphetamines have many harmful effects for "long-term abuse" but what’s the difference between someone who isn’t prescribed Adderall and someone who takes it to treat ADHD for the rest of his life? Can’t both bodies suffer from the physical effects and risk of damage to the heart, liver, kidney, etc?
In small doses, drugs like aderall and ritalin are not harmful to a healthy person. In a person who has ADHD, small doses of these drugs often give a therapeutic effect on the mind. In a person who doesn’t have ADHD, they may have no effect at all until you start getting into higher dosages or alternative ingestion. That’s where the problem starts. Abusive use of these drugs often leads to taking much higher doses or crushing up and snorting the tablets in order to get a ‘high’. Besides that, amphetamines have a high occurance of addiction in individuals, and without a doctor following the progress of the individual, there’s a strong concern there.

I am writing an essay on child abuse for my criminology class, and I know that its typical for child abusers to have suffered from child abuse themselves. I just can’t find any reasons why that is.
to "no real help": Thanks for the opinion, but this essay isn’t so much based on opinions, but more on the facts. I obviously have my own opinions on why things are the way they are, but that doesn’t make them right. There are neurological reasons why adults who were abused as children become abusers towards there own children.
My opinion, they aren’t smart enough to figure out that they don’t have to do what was done to them; or they figure since their childhood was "Hell," they’re going to be vindictive and take it out on their kids and make their lives "Hell."
Usually, it’s because it’s what they learned as kids, that this is how you raise a child; by treating them this way or that…again, they aren’t smart enough to figure out that they don’t have to do what was done to them.
It’s like so many other things…people just aren’t smart enough to think for themselves. [ahem]
My "opinion," although it is editorialized, is based on what I grew up with and how it was explained in therapy.
Having come out of an emotionally abusive relationship I realise that the change from charming to controlling appeared subtle. So now of course I am afraid of talking to anyone in case they try to work their spell on me.
What are the warning signs to look for from the very first contact so that I can avoid ever being in this type of situation again? All advice greatly appreciated.
Oh, yes, can’t they just be the most gallant charmers.
You might want to take a look at the book The Gift of Fear, by Gavin de Becker. (You can get it in paperback.) He explains it quite well. The warning signs, and how to pay attention to your intuition about people like that. We get in trouble most times because we refuse to pay attention to those nagging little intuitions we get about people.
I’m of the opinion that a little background check couldn’t hurt, either.
I wish you well.
he lives at home with his parents and siblings he is 19 lives in indenhurst ny suffolk county .But i want to know how do i go about his arrest without having my name brought up even if he thinks it me who told. I am no way of being a rat he got me pregnant thinks he can do what eva he wants hes a physical abuser to so i want to get the last laugh any suggestions?
Seems you’re heading into a pattern of stupid shit behavior. The only smart thing to do would be to forget all about him, and start hanging out with people that would be a positive influence on your life.
Also, I’m pretty sure _he_ didn’t get you pregnant. While I haven’t seen a video of the incident, I’m pretty sure you were both involved in that.
Whether it be physical or mental do they ever regret causing a person alot of pain?
probably a small percentage do regret their actions but most will be the way they are until they seek help to change their lives .
to some abusers that is how they grew up only knowing the abuse some abused because they were abused at a younger age they just need to break the cycle of abuse once and for all.
Can we anyone of to use different terms have mention about from other people by race, which as use the terms into have threaten, abuse, verbal aggression or ask people to killing themselves over etc in the chat forum at Yahoo in Hong Kong?? If someone is victim by there and what should she/he do?? How can she/he going to appealing court file from the abuser??
Yep. That’s right.
This physical education teacher at my high school believed that one of his student was a drug abuser. He had noticed the needle marks on the student’s arms and has been acting erratically in recent weeks. The teacher reported this to the principal, who in turn notified the student’s parents.
It has turned out that the student was a diabetic. The needle marks were from his insulin injections and the erratic behavior was the result in a recent change in his insulin dosage.
The student and his parents sued the teacher and the school for defamation of character.
Is there any way for the teacher to defend himself from the law suit?
This is in New York.
Wouldn’t it be a great world if teachers gave a damn — oh wait this teacher did and they end up getting sued.
I think this is ridiculous and I think the parents should me slapped because if any person in that school should have been kept up to date on the childs medical status it should have been the PE TEACHER! The parents were negligient in not telling the PE teacher that child was diabetic – what if he had an insulin reaction in class? Erratic behavior is an indication there is an issue with the blood sugars and insulin dose – why weren’t the parents concerned about that?
Pathetic — our world sues people who care for their children.
